​Hello! I'm Lilian the founder of Merry Makewell Designs.  I'm a creative soul from Cardiff, Wales with a love of pattern design for paper and fabric.  

My journey to art and design has been an unusual one.  I took the scientific route at school and went on to study Engineering at University.  I then worked as an engineer for 10 years. 

I have always enjoyed making things, but it wasn't until my 20s that making became a regular part of my life when I took up  dressmaking.  Crochet, hand embroidery, cardmaking and paper crafts followed.  I also ran a natural skincare business where I found that I really enjoyed designing the packaging- my first foray into the world of graphic design. 

It was after I started cardmaking that I discovered surface pattern design and I created my very first digital paper collection!  And thus my career as a Surface Pattern Designer was born.

I love bold colours, geometric patterns and botanical motifs.  You can find my patterns on fabric, art prints, home décor items, tech accessories, clothing, accessories and more.  You can even download some of my collections to use in your own creative and design projects.
